RESOUND Choir Welcomes Assistant Conductor, Walter Mahabir, to the Team!

Walter Mahabir joins RESOUND Choir’s Artistic Team as Assistant Conductor

Durham Region, April 26, 2022 — RESOUND Choir is excited to announce that Walter Mahabir has joined the Artistic Team as Assistant Conductor. Toronto-based vocalist and emerging conductor, Walter is an artist whose talent, experiences, and knowledge will greatly benefit RESOUND Choir.

The choir loves working with him already!” 

Walter Mahabir is a graduate of McGill University with a Master’s degree in choral conducting, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from York University in classical voice. Walter has taken part in choral concerts and choral conducting workshops in Canada, the United States, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Italy and Germany. He was the former Choral Conductor and piano teacher at the Regent Park School of Music, Apprentice Conductor of the Orpheus Choir of Toronto, and has also sung with the Ontario Male Chorus, the Ottawa Bach Choir, the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, the Cantabile Chamber Singers, Voces Boréales, and the Canadian Male Chorus. Walter is currently working as the Intern conductor for St. Michael’s Choir School – his alma mater, where he graduated in 2008 – and sings in various ensembles around the GTA.

RESOUND Choir is currently rehearsing for our upcoming June concerts which will be in-person in both Oshawa and Toronto. We will be performing Brahms’ Requiem together with the North York Concert Orchestra and featuring the Amadeus Choir of Greater Toronto. Visit our website to learn more!
